Information and general conditions


1. Global Spirit is an intermediary between the project and the volunteer

Global Spirit offers volunteer positions on behalf of the projects and handles the contract arrangements between the volunteer and project in question. By completing the application form and returning it to Global Spirit, the volunteer is irrevocably bound to participation at the project stated in the application form. Global Spirit will inquire on your behalf as to placement availability at the project of your choice. If the volunteers application is accepted by the project, Global Spirit will inform the volunteer and provide further details along with an invoice.

2. Safeguards and provisos

The volunteer declares that the information received by Global spirit in connection with the booking is correct and complete without restraint. Global Spirit is under no circumstances liable for any damage which may result from incorrect, incomplete or withheld information supplied by the volunteer. The Volunteer cannot hold Global Spirit responsible for such liabilities. All Information received from volunteers will be handled confidentially and will not be used for any other purpose than arranging the contract.

3. Exclusions of liability

Global Spirit is merely an intermediary between the volunteer and the project during the contract arrangement. Global Spirit is under no circumstances liable for any short comings between the volunteer and the project in complying with the contract, or any damage which may result from this non-compliance

4. Insurance

The project requires the volunteer to take out a travel insurance, which offers full coverage of accident and medical costs. The volunteer is responsible for arranging this insurance and by sending a copy of it to Global Spirit. A travel insurance can be arranged by Global Spirit on behalf of ‘Europeesche Verzekeringen’. Details of insurance tariffs can be found in one of the links on the application form A cancellation insurance is advised, which also can be arranged by the volunteer or through Global Spirit on behalf of ‘Europeesche Verzekeringen’. 5. Payment terms and conditions

Once the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer, the volunteer is required to pay a deposit of 35% of the full payment (excluding insurance costs), with a minimum of € 100,-.The remaining amount of the full payment fee must be paid to Global Spirit no later than 6 weeks prior to departure. Should the contract arrangement be completed within 6 weeks of departure, the volunteer is required to deposit the full payment fee immediately to Global Spirit.

The following projects deviate from the payment terms and conditions:

Sea turtles Greece: This project does not accept a down payment, the volunteer is required to pay the full payment fee to Global Spirit as soon as the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer.

Whales and dolphins Italy: This project does not accept a down payment, the volunteer is required to pay the full payment fee to Global Spirit as soon as the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer.

Adriatic dolphins Croatia : This project does not accept a down payment, the volunteer is required to pay the full payment fee to Global Spirit as soon as the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer.

Marine Adventure including whales and dolphins South Africa: Once the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer, the volunteer is required to pay a deposit of 50% of the full payment (excluding insurance costs) The remaining amount of the full payment fee must be paid to Global Spirit no later than 8 weeks prior to departure. Should the contract arrangement be completed within 8 weeks of departure, the volunteer is required to deposit the full payment fee immediately to Global Spirit.

Asian elephants Thailand: This project does not accept a down payment, the volunteer is required to pay the full payment fee to Global Spirit as soon as the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer.

Animals and children South Africa: Once the contract has been arranged between the project and the volunteer, the volunteer is required to pay a deposit of 50% of the full payment (excluding insurance costs) The remaining amount of the full payment fee must be paid to Global Spirit no later than 3 months prior to departure. Should the contract arrangement be completed within 3 months of departure, the volunteer is required to deposit the full payment fee immediately to Global Spirit.

6. Late payments

Should the contract arrangement be completed within 6 weeks prior to departure, the volunteer is required to deposit the full payment fee immediately to Global Spirit. Under other circumstances, Global Spirit will send an invoice to the volunteer. The final payment date is stated on the invoice. Should Global Spirit not receive the payment by the final payment date, the volunteer will be found to be negligent without required notice. From this date onwards the volunteer is required to pay a contractual interest of 10% of the remaining payment amount per year. Global Spirit has the right to make extrajudicial collecting charges if the claim is being outsourced . These charges amount to the sum a minimum of € 150.-.

7. Cancellation terms and conditions

  • Should the volunteer cancel the booking prior to the contract arrangement between volunteer and the project, a cancellation fee of € 25,00 is required;
  • Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the acceptance of the booking and the 42nd day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay the deposit (35% of the full payment fee, with a minimum of € 100,00 );
  • Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 42nd day (inclusive)before departure and the 28th day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 50% of the full payment fee;
  • Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 28th day(inclusive) prior to departure and the 14th day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 75% of the full payment fee;
  • Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 14th day(inclusive) prior to departure and the day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 100% of the full payment fee;

Please note: The following projects deviate from the standard terms and conditions:

Wales and dolphins in Italy: Should the volunteer cancel the booking prior to the contract arrangement between volunteer and the project, a cancellation fee of € 25,00 is required;
Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the acceptance of the booking and the 30th day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 20% of the full payment fee. Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 30th day (inclusive) prior to departure and the day of departure or later, the volunteer will be required to pay 100% of the full payment fee.

Adriatic dolphins in Croatia: Should the volunteer cancel the booking prior to the contract arrangement between volunteer and the project, a cancellation fee of € 25,00 is required;
Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the acceptance of the booking and the 30th day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 20% of the full payment fee. Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 30th day (inclusive) prior to departure and the day of departure or later, the volunteer will be required to pay 100% of the full payment fee.

Marine Adventure including wales and dolphins in South Africa: Should the volunteer cancel the booking prior to the contract arrangement between volunteer and the project, a cancellation fee of € 25,00 is required;
Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the acceptance of the booking and the 30th day prior to departure, the volunteer will be required to pay 50% of the full payment fee. Should the volunteer cancel the booking during the period between the 30th day (inclusive) prior to departure and the day of departure or later, the volunteer will be required to pay 100% of the full payment fee.

General information: Cancellations must be made in writing stating reason.

8. Miscellaneous

Transport to and from the project is accounted for by the volunteer.

The participation fees are subject to changes any time during the year. Participants who have already booked before a change will pay the participation fee represented at the time of booking.
